My host dad manages a bar (as many of you know) and so he encourages my roommate and I to go out a lot lol. It's nice too because the drinking age is 18, so I can go out with all the other American exchange students.
On the weekends I'm not travel, I like to go out. The nightlife here in Spain is crazy because bars and clubs don't close 'til 6 in the morning! A lot of my friends go home around 2 in the morning because they are tired, and it's funny because their host parents always ask why they are home so early lol. I personally like staying out until the clubs kick me out because I'm a dance maniac. I don't like to drink much though, mostly because it's expensive.
I'm not a big fan of going out to bars actually. For one thing, smoking is a huge problem. It's permitted in bars and the smoke is terrible. I don't like that they blare loud music either because you can't talk to anybody. It is especially dificult to speak Spanish in a loud bar. Nobody dances either which I think is dumb. What's the point of the loud music then!? Another thing that kind of sucks is that the people can be obnoxious. If they hear you speaking English they may try to talk to you. I wouldn't mind if it was friendly conversation, but most of the time it's creepy guys that either are hitting on my girl friends, or guys who want to pimp me out to a girl friend of theirs. Just awkward.
I'm up for a club or discoteca anytime though! There are quite a few clubs here that are exceptional! They play really good music (including American music) and have huge dancefloors. I hope to go dance up a storm this weekend. Word of advice though: NEVER go alone! Oh my goodness, always go with friends. It's not dangerous to go alone persay, but it's VERY foolish since there are so many drunks. Just use your head.
That's all for now. Check out a couple of these fun pictures :) Hasta la próxima!
